Energy Conservation Experiment Center

Building Environment and Energy Conservation Experiment Center is professional experimental platform for the major of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at Nanchang University. The experiment center is composed of several laboratories, such as the enthalpy difference laboratory, the refrigeration and air conditioning comprehensive laboratory, the heat transfer laboratory, the engineering thermodynamics laboratory, and the fluid mechanics laboratory.

 The enthalpy method laboratory can respectively simulate indoor and outdoor working conditions and the thermal performance experiments are conducted in the laboratory, such as room air conditioners and air-air energy recovery devices,etc. A series of experiments about the refrigeration and air conditioning system can be conducted in the comprehensive laboratory for refrigeration and air conditioning. For example, the performance of the refrigeration systems can be demonstrated. In addition, the other experimental content includes comprehensive performance experiments on fan coil units, performance experiments on small water chillers, performance experiments on water-water heat exchangers, performance experiments on water pumps, performance experiments on surface coolers, performance experiments on direct evaporative cooling, and performance experiments on variable air volume, etc. The thermal coefficients of metallic and non-metallic materials can be measured in the heat transfer laboratory, as well as the surface heat transfer coefficients of natural convection and forced convection. The engineering thermodynamics laboratory is equipped with many devices and thermodynamic parameters could be measured, such as the specific heat at constant pressure of gases, adiabatic index, the flow variation law of gas in the nozzle, and the dew point temperature of glass, etc. The fluid mechanics laboratory can conduct fluid experiments, such as the siphon principle and comprehensive experiments about the Bernoulli equation,etc. 

In addition, the experimental center is equipped with large-scale instrument, such as infrared thermal imager, liquid chromatographs, gas chromatographs, building air tightness testing systems, and differential scanning calorimeters, as well as a walk-in constant temperature and humidity curing room. The courses experiments and research of the major of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at Nanchang University are conducted in the experiment center. Furthermore, the experiment center also undertakes the testing business both within and outside Nanchang University.
