Introduction to the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Civil Engineering Materials and Green Intelligent Construction

Introduction to the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Civil Engineering Materials and Green Intelligent Construction

Authorized by Science and Technology Department of Jiangxi Province in April 2024, the Laboratory is committed to fostering innovation in civil engineering. In response to the national "Dual Carbon" goals and Jiangxi's "1269" Action Plan, the Laboratory focuses on two core domains of advanced civil engineering materials and green intelligent construction. Guided by cutting-edge technologies and sustainable principles, the Laboratory targets to become a leading platform for innovation in intelligent and green construction technologies. Specifically, the Laboratory is dedicated to tackling key scientific challenges in four areas: Advanced Materials, High-Performance Structures, Digital Geotechnics, and Intelligent Construction.

There are 33 fixed personnel in the laboratory, and 1 laboratory technician and manager. Among the scientific research personnel, there are 21 senior researchers and 11 intermediate researchers, with 32 holding doctoral degrees. The team includes 10 doctoral supervisors and 24 master's supervisors. In recent years, 4 members have been awarded the title of provincial and ministerial talents. The Laboratory hosts a high-level team of over 150 post-doctoral fellows, doctoral candidates and postgraduate students. Together, they form a high-level team with reasonable scientific research team structure and strong innovation ability.

The four key research domains of the laboratory:

Ⅰ. Advanced Materials: Self-healing and phase-change cementitious materials; high-performance recycled concrete; high-performance calcium silicate-based carbon sequestration materials; high-grade white Portland cement; aluminosilicate-based porous ceramic materials.

. High-Performance Structures: Design of special steel and composite structures; seismic performance and design of rammed earth structures; life-cycle performance of recycled concrete structures; seismic and progressive collapse resistance of prefabricated structures; intelligent risk assessment and inspection of structures.

III. Digital Geotechnics: Engineering properties and deformation adjustment of special soils; green ecological restoration for slopes; stability analysis and dynamic feedback optimization in geotechnical engineering; regional landslide susceptibility prediction and hazard early warning; early warning systems and emergency response for geotechnical disasters.

IV. Intelligent Construction: BIM and digital construction; 3D additive manufacturing technology; intelligent construction theory and robot; Building Integrated Photovoltaics and PEDF (Photovoltaic, Energy Storage, Direct Current, and Flexibility) systems; carbon footprint monitoring and evaluation for zero-carbon buildings.

The Laboratory aims to establish a premier platform in the fields of advanced civil engineering materials and green intelligent construction. Its mission is to attract high-level talent and produce internationally competitive research outcomes. Envisioned as a provincial center for applied fundamental research, talent cultivation, and technology transfer, the Laboratory is dedicated to enhancing original innovation capabilities. By strengthening the research of key commonness and cutting-edge technology, it provides powerful theoretical and technical support for the high-quality development of civil engineering materials and intelligent construction in Jiangxi Province and even in China.
